Most parents know kids need phonics, not pictures, to teach kids to read. But what happens when the phonics programs you find use pictures to teach phonics or don't teach enough phonetic code or skills to read and write words like ghosts, unicorn, computer, constant, or fascinating? Mom had tried everything. She read to her daughter every day. There were books in every corner of the house. Private preschool-2nd grade, in-school interventions, "learning" apps, on and off private tutors, now public school in 3rd grade, an IEP, and classroom supports. Her daughter's reading had been stuck for years! She couldn't read like her peers. Her confidence was shattered and nightly meltdowns were the norm.

While scrolling through Instagram, mom found our program. She could barely get through homework. More "equipped" people weren't getting through. How could she possibly expect to get better results at home on her own?

With a conflicting mix of hope and hesitation, she committed and came to class.

Less than 10 minutes in, she felt seen. Our founder was right - her daughter had lost confidence in herself but also, in working with her as her mom. Mom was trying to muscle through the tasks every day, but she wasn't bringing ease into her daughter's struggle. Without bringing ease, how was she being helpful?

What if she had better tools and could restore her daughter's confidence? What if she could show her daughter, she could really help her?

There is something mom knew: whatever she was doing was not working. She might as well get better tools. And whatever she learned would help her with her second child. This was an opportunity to work with a veteran of over 25 years not just a book, or set of flashcards, or drop off service. Why not?

Within just a few weeks of using the framework, she saw a decrease in meltdowns, followed by a willingness to work. Less than a year later, her child was reading at grade level. Today, her child tests two years ahead in comprehension, is off the IEP for reading, and that confidence? It's through the roof!
